I am a writer, artist, and language creator living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in Atlantic Canada. You may have
encountered me or my work in one or more of the following (from most recent):
-
On the Inner Workings of Language Creation: Using Conlangs to Drive Reader Engagement
in Fictional Worlds, with Anthony Gutierrez and Nicolás Matí Campi: a chapter in
Reading Fictional Languages by University of Edinburgh Press, based on two paper
presentations we presented at the University of Nottingham’s Symposium on Reading
Fictional Langauges in March of 2021. Published December, 2023.
-
Language Creation Society (LCS) Board of Directors:
I was a director on LCS’s Board from 2015 to 2023. During that time I also served as
Manager of Memberships from 2016 to 2019, and for most of 2023. I declined to run for reelection
in 2023, and I am no longer affiliated with the LCS in any official capacity beyond general membership.
-
Pulse: Book Two, by
B.A. Bellec: I worked with the author to construct a language for the second book
in the Pulse series. Published September 2023. (More to come in Book Three: Stay tuned!)
-
Glow, a comic series by
MythWorks, Inc.
I was hired in March of 2021 to expand and curate their language Nymeran for
future editions of the series beginning with issue #5 (released February 2023).
-
A Recipe for Language, an article and radio documentary by
Andrea McGuire which aired on
CBC’s Atlantic Voice in March 2021. I was interviewed about the
intersectionality of constructed languages and queer identity.

-
Pilots of Gallaxia, a board game by Stefan Rasporich and Infinite Mind
Pictures, Inc. I was hired in 2018 to create a constructed language,
Grayis, for the game, which was released in January of 2020.
-
Conlanging: The Art of Crafting Tongues,
2017 film by Britton Watkins and Josh Feldman. I was interviewed for and appear briefly
in the film discussing my own language projects and the work I do for the
Riddlesbrood Touring Theatre Company.

Riddlesbrood: The Greatest Brochure in the World,
by Clyde P. Riddlesbrood. I translated the passages and phrases (including much of the
cover art, which is quite verbose) and consulted on character names. This is part of
ongoing work I have done with the
Riddlesbrood Touring Theatre Company
since 2014 to expand and curate their language
Brooding.
